Sankaracharya was born in kaladi in Kerala.

Story behind Kanakadhara Slokam-

Once little Sankara was going to a few houses to take Bhiksha. He came across a hut and asked for bhiksha. The woman inside the house was surprised as a saint has come to her house for food but she is so poor that nothing was in her house. She searched all the places and finally found an old Amla fruit. Even though she was shy to give this little amla fruit to Shankara, she didn't want to send the saint empty-handed. She offered the amla fruit to Sankara.

Shankaracharya who realized all this started singing twenty-one slokas praising Mahalakshmi, praying her to bless the poor women by driving her poverty and grant her riches. Listening to Sankaracharya's beautiful stotra Mahalakshmi showered Golden amla fruit like rain in front of the poor women's hut.

Shankaracharya's this "Kanakadhara stotra" for the welfare of everyone who is suffering their past karma and suffering in poverty.

Shri Gurubhyo Namah 🙏
