The Adhyatmik and Dharmik reasons behind Diyas.
Every day begins with Diyas. Diyas emit positive waves that clear all the negative energy around us. In ancient times people use to light Diyas in Dusk and recite
"Shubham Karoti".
शुभं करोति कल्याणं आरोग्यं धनसंपदाम् । शत्रुबुद्धिविनाशाय दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तु ते ।।
O Jyoti (Agni in Diya), you bestow auspiciousness and wellbeing, health and wealth. You also destroy the intellect of enemies. Therefore I pay obeisance to you.
दीपज्योति:परब्रह्म दीपज्योतिर्जनार्दन: । दीपो हरतु मे पापं दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तु ते ।।
The light emanating from the Diya is in fact, a form of Parabrahman (Supreme Brahman) An Deepak is Parameshwara (Supreme Ishwara), eliminating the sorrow in the world. O Deepak(Diya), absolve me of sins. I offer obeisance to you.
Diyas always lighten up in the direction of Vastu. Where protection is needed. Deepak Agni has used the form of Aarti. The importance of Diyas is not only limited to Adhyatmik or Dharmik it has also been one of the most important pillars of our economy. Since ancient times people are using Clay pots, Diyas, and other items made from soil. Pottery has been a very foundation occupation of our society.
The work and place of Kumhar(who makes items from Soil) have been very important for us. It has always been there in the mainstream economy. But sadly such occupations are being targeted. Those who have strengthened our nation and society are being neglected today. If we don't stand up for them today they will vanish and who knows what will be their next target?
