The importance of the fourteenth chapter of Bhagwat Gita. (Ch-14)

This chapter helps us to get rid of the worldly ties. There was a King named Vikram Vaital in a place called Singhaldweep. He was a very brave and courageous King. Once when he went on a hunting expedition, he was accompanied by his two sons and he also took two bitches with him. Deep in the forest, he saw a rabbit running. He left one of the bitches to chase the rabbit. The rabbit ran for his life as if he was flying very fast. Tired, he did not notice a big hole and fell in it.

Although he fell, then also the bitch could not catch him, After running for quite a long time, he realized that he was in a very serene surrounding. The animals all co-existed. This was the Ashram of Rishi Vatsa who constantly would read the fourteenth chapter of Gita.

The Muni's disciple had washed his feet and the mud was slightly wet. While crossing this wet patch, the rabbit fell on it. Just by crossing the patch of land, the rabbit was free from world entangles. A Vimaan was waiting for him to carry him to Vishnudham. Meanwhile, a few drops of the same water fell on the bitch too when she came chasing the rabbit. She too was relieved from worldly ties. She too sat on the Vimaan and flew to Vishnudham. All the onlookers including the King were amazed. But the disciple of the Muni was smiling.

The King questioned him about the incident and his smile. The disciple of Muni Vatsa replied that he too read the fourteenth chapter of Gita regularly. He smiled because he knew the story of their previous birth. Both the animals went to Vishnudham as their sins were washed off due to the water dropped by him after washing his legs, the water was sanctified as it had washed the feet of the person reading the fourteenth chapter of Gita.

As for the rabbit & bitch, both were husband and wife in their previous birth. Their names were Keshav and Vilobhana. The wife was characterless therefore one day Keshav murdered her. Due to this grave sin, he became a rabbit and Vilobhana became a bitch due to her sins. Listening to this King then started listening to the fourteenth chapter of Gita daily.

This directly or indirectly rids you of all sins and helps you attain Moksha. The fourteenth chapter not only purifies the person reading it but it also sanctifies the things that come in its contact.
