The Importance of the Eighteenth Chapter of Bhagwat Gita. (Ch-18)
The eighteenth chapter of Gita is important since it is capable of sending you to Sayujya Swarg. There is a town called Amravati at the peak of the Merugiri mountains. It was built by Vishwakarma. We all know it as Swarg, A place where Devtas reside.
Once Indra was sitting on his throne when he noticed a strong glow. When the glow started nearing him, it started obstructing his vision. His vision was dazzled so much that he fell down from his throne. He noticed that this strong glow emanated from a man who was now sitting on his throne. He was the new Indra. He(old Indra) noticed that the sevaks and Apsaras were not even looking at him but were now serving the new Indra. He found out that like him, the new Indra had not performed a hundred Yagya's or done anything worthwhile. So he went to Kshirsagar to get some answers.
After paying his respects to Vishnuji, he put forth his query. Vishnuji replied that the man was sitting on Indra's throne, in his previous life would daily read the five times eighteenth Gita chapter. Due to the Punya acquired through it he became the new Indra. Vishnu advised him to read the eighteenth chapter.
So Indra took the form of a Brahmin and came on the banks of the Godavari river. He noticed a town called Kalika gram which had become sacred due to the Godavari. He noticed an intelligent Brahmin who had acquired total control of his senses, sitting on the bank. He went to him and requested him to read the eighteenth chapter of Gita.
Old)Indra then continued this reading until he attained Sayujya of VISHNU. He realized that the throne of Indra was temporary and instead opted for Sayujya in Vaikunth Dham. The eighteenth chapter of Gita has many benefits. It is said to be more superior to Vedas. It makes your journey of life easier. It destroys Avidya along with the five evil elements of anger lust etc. It provides entertainment to Mahayogi. It silences the loud calls of Yamdoots.
With this, I complete my Geeta series.
