The Importance of the Fifth chapter of Bhagwat Gita. (Ch-5)
In a village named Purukutspur in Madra Desh there lived a Brahmin named Pingal. Although he was born in a traditional family but his interests lay in music and musical instruments. He sang, danced and played the instruments very nicely. Through this art he got entry in Kings Court. He became very close to the King. He now became egotistical. He would always give adverse feedback to the King about others. He became corrupt and Womaniser. His wife Aruna also was a woman of loose character.
She often would indulge in affairs with other men. She thought that her husband was a hindrance in her way. So she cut his head & killed him. Pingal suffered in many Naraks and ultimately was born as a Vulture. Meanwhile the wife suffered from fistulas and had to leave her body. She too suffered and went through many Naraks. She was born as a Parrot. Once she was picking food through her beak on a tree when the Vulture(Pingal{Husband in previous birth}) remembering his previous birth went to her and started pricking her head with his nails. Injured, she fell down. She fell on an skull that was full of water and died. The Vulture too was trapped and shot with an arrow by some hunters. He too fell in the same spot. He too was dead.
The Yamdoots carried them to Yamraj. The two were resigned to their fate, as they knew that their place was in Narak. The Yamraj observed their Karma's and instead of assigning them to Narak, he sent them to Swarg. Both were puzzled and fell on Yamraj's feet. The Yamraj then explained to them that the skull on which they both fell belonged to a pious ascetic Sadhu who was a loner and was always reading the fifth chapter of Gita. Therefore his complete body was sanctified. He had left for his heavenly abode with a happy mind. Since they fell on his skull their sins were destroyed as it touched the saintly and pious part of the Sadhu, they had the choice of SWARGS to choose. The fifth chapter of Gita is important because even if you hear a few words from it, your sins are destroyed.
Chanting the whole chapter is capable of giving you Moksha.
